Abstract

 

Abstract

The main objectives of this research are : i) to study the administration of State Public University in accordance with Brahmavihara IV as viewed by university staffs;    ii) to compare the opinions towards the  administration of State Public University in accordance with Brahmavihara IV classified by personal factors; and iii) to study the problems and suggestions of staffs  concerning application of Brahmavihara IV to the administration of Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus. This study was employed survey research. The samples were 312 staffs who work in Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus selected by random sampling technique. The tool for data collection was questionnaire with the reliability value equal to 0.933.  The statistical techniques for data analysis were frequency, percentage, standardized derivation, t-test and one-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA). The Least Significant Difference (LSD) was used for testing differences of the paired means.

          The results of this study were concluded as follows:

1. The overall administration of State Public University in accordance with Brahmavihara IV as viewed by university staffs was found at the moderate level. Having considered by aspects, it was also rated at the high levels in Mudita (sympathetic), whereas at the moderate levels in Metta (friendliness), Karuna (compassion), and Upekkha (neutrality), respectively.

          2. The overall administration of State Public University in accordance with Brahmavihara IV as viewed by university staffs, classified by personal factors was found that sex, levels of education, positions of university staffs were noted statistically different at .05 level of significance, accepting the set hypotheses; whereas the factors such as age and marital status were found no statistically significant differences, rejecting the formulated hypotheses.

3. Regarding to problems in applying Brahmavihara IV forthe administration of Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus, it was found that administrators lack application of Brahmavihara IV in university administration, partiality of administrators in areas of allocation of persons in proper job descriptions, promotion and position evaluation, and administrators pay no attention to the voices of the university staffs. Suggestions for improvement were noted as follows : impartiality of administrators, treat staffs friendly and happily, administrators have to take compassion on their staffs,  job descriptions allocation must be fair and just, seek the ways and means to help the suffered staffs when needed, treat all staffs fairly and equally, give staffs the chances to develop themselves in the higher positions.
