The Role in Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedee District, Suphanburi Province

Abstract

ABSTRACT

The research consisted of three main objectives, namely: 1) to study level of the monks opinions concerning the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province, 2) to compare level of the monks’ opinions concerning the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province, being classified by individual status, and  3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions on the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province. The research was used the Mixed Method with both quantitative and qualitative methods by using questionnaire with the sampling group of 198 monks in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province and in–depth interview with 7 Key–informants. The researcher had conducted the tool with reliability of 0.94. The statistics used in data analysis were the Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation (S.D.), t–test and F-test, One Way Analysis of Variance (One Way ANOVA) and the difference in pair by the way of Least Significant Difference (LSD).

 

The findings of the research are as follows :

1. The level of monks’ opinion concerning the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province totally was in medium level with = 3.45; being considered each aspect, it has been  found  that the aspect of the role of Sangha Administration on Buddhism Propaganda and Construction and Renovation in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province was in good level; meanwhile, the others remaining found in medium level.

2. The comparison of monks’ opinion concerning the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province, being classified by individual status, it has been found that            monks’ different age, number of years in monkshood, general educational qualification, Dhamma educational qualification and Pali educational qualification effected to opinion concerning the roles of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province totally had significant differences at .05 level of confidence, thus accepting formulated hypotheses.

3. From studying the problems and obstacles it had been found that the problems and obstacles in the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province were as follows:  being sick, the Sangha Administrators lacked welfare of treatment; 2) it was quite difficult to give ordination to children with the purpose of studying Dhamma in Buddhism; and 3) the Sangha Administrators lacked medias and information concerning the promotion of the Buddhist Important–Day and suitable way to provide Buddhist with Buddhadhamma.

The suggestions on all aspects were: 1) there should be treatment welfare to monks and novices till they get well from the sickness, 2) the Sangha administrator should establish educational fund to support school children, and monks and novices who qualified Dhamma and Pali educations; and 3) the Sangha Administrators should provide medias, e.g. radio to give information concerning the promotion of the Buddhist Important–Day and suitable way in order to provide Buddhist with Buddhadhamma.

4. The mean for developing the role of Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province is to organize some activities of participation and cooperation for the Sangha Administrators in order to create the defensive measure and also to screen individual resources to be ordained in Buddhism and to prevent several kinds of problems such as drug addiction etc.; additionally, the Sangha Administrators should support monks and novices to study Dhamma and Pali including general study conforming to curriculum of Ministry of Education, and to enrich the training programs relating to Buddhism propagation and also follow the achievement after training.
