Abstract

Abstract 

The objectives of this research were; 1) to study the state of teaching and learning management of teachers in Buddhist temple schools, 2) to study the best teaching and learning management in Buddhist temple schools, and 3) to propose a guideline for teaching and learning management of teachers in Buddhist temple schools. The mixed research methods were used in the study; the quantitative data were obtained from 116 samples through questionnaires and the qualitative data came from documents. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation and content analysis.

The research results showed that:

1) The general state of teaching and learning management of teachers in Buddhist temple schools was at the high level overall. In details, the highest level was on learning contents, followed by teaching and learning management, teaching media and teaching techniques, teaching and learning activity, and measurement and evaluation respectively.

2) Principles of the best teaching and learning management in Buddhist temple schools were that; 1) Learning contents: to develop the learners to be good, intellectual and happy, suitable to the levels of learners, and encourage the learners to be able to think and solve problems, 2) Teaching and learning management: to set up the classroom environment appropriate to learning, to have lesson plans and follow the lesson plans, and to assign students to prepare for each class in advance, 3) Teaching media and teaching techniques: to use the texts and documents relevant to the subject contents and use e-learning and modern technology in teaching, 4)Teaching and learning activity: to teach and to learn through questions and answers and application, 5) Measurement and evaluation: to arrange both accumulative and summative tests for students and to evaluate the learning results for course improvement.

3) The guideline for teaching and learning management of teachers in Buddhist temple schools was that; 1) Learning contents; to obtain from learning sources such as library, magazine, internet, 2) Teaching and learning management; to integrate Buddhist teachings into the subject contents and teaching process, 3) Teaching media and technique; to use modern media and instruments, 4) Teaching and learning activity; to arrange activities appropriate to age and status of learners, and 5) Measurement and evaluation; to be relevant to school context, learning standard and learners’ development.
