Administration of Charity Schools in Buddhist Temples Based on Sangahavatthu Dhammas IV under the Office of Private Education Commission in the Northeast Area 1 (Buddhist Educational Administration)

Abstract

The aims of this documentary research were: 1) to study the conditions of the administration of charity schools in Buddhist temples based on Sangahavatthu dhammas IV (four bases of social solidarity, saṅgahavatthu-dhamma); 2) to compare the opinions of the administrators and teachers in the studied schools towards the mentioned administration; 3) to study the ways to administrate the charity schools in Buddhist temples based on the dhamma. This mixed method research had its samples as 275 administrators and teachers, selected by simple random sampling while the sample size was determined by Krejcies & Morgan method. The targeted samples of this research are 16 of the samples, selected by purposive sampling. The tools used in collecting the data were the questionnaire with its reliability value of 0.96 and the structured interview. The statistics used in data analysis were: Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, f-test (One Way ANOVA). The qualitative data were interpreted by the descriptive analysis.

The research results were as follows:
1) In overall and studied aspects, the mean values of the conditions of the administration of charity schools in Buddhist temples based on Sangahavatthu dhammas IV were seen in a high level. The highest value was seen in the aspect of ‘personnel administration based on Sangahavatthu IV’, followed by ‘financial administration based on Sangahavatthu IV’ and ‘academic affairs administration based on Sangahavatthu IV’.
2) The comparative mean values of the opinions of the administrators and teachers in the studied schools towards the mentioned administration, classified by their personal factors: positions, education and working experience were differentiated with the statistical significance level of .05.
3) The ways to administrate the charity schools in Buddhist temples based on the dhamma were 1) in the academic affairs administration based on Sangahavatthu IV, the curriculums of the educational institutions should be developed in consistency with the core curriculum and community contexts; 2) in the financial administration based on Sangahavatthu IV, the budget plan should be made according to the educational project plans to allocate the institutional budget to the maximized benefits; 3) in the personnel administration based on Sangahavatthu IV, the system in determining the positions should comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education; 4) in the general affairs administration based on Sangahavatthu IV, there should be a process to operate the office works in relation to other organizations with the effective and continuous development of information network.
