Abstract

This thesis is of the objective to study about the meaning, the type, and the Characteristic, of Macchariya and to study how to aboilish the Macchariya accosting to the principle Theravāda Buddhism.

                        This study is the type of documentary one. From the study it is found Macchariya    in Theravāda Buddhism means the emotion which depends the individual mind that makes man to be parsimonious, cherish and selfish.

                        Macchariya is of five types: Āvāsa-Macchariya, the Stinginess to dwelling place, Kula-Macchariya: Stinginess to family, lābha-Macchariya: stinginess to a gain, Vanna-Macchariya : Stinginess to caste or class discrimination, Dhamma-Macchariy: Stinginess to knowledge or mental achievements.

                        The camass of the happening of Macchariya are Lobha, Dosa and Moha which ate the origins of Kilesa and are the Akusala Dhammas. Where the people behave badly they are the bad person and are selfish and interest to especially in their benefits more than the benefit of the societies.

                        Is order to abolish Macchariya one must us the doctrinal principle to abolish it, became Macchariya arises in the persons mind. The step to abolish it is the development of Body, Speech and Mind to have good, Thought, speech and action that makes the benefit to another persons. This is the basis of good behavior that is the good way of life to make human beings be in good way of living together.

                        This Dhamma can develop people to be the good ones in societies and have generous minds, not to be selfish and cause themselves to be in morals this the fact of which is the way of people who respect in Buddhism.
