Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

               The objectives of this research are: 1) to study the efficacy of Sangha Administration in Buddhamonthon district, Nakhonpathom province; and 2) to compare the efficacy of Sangha Administration in Buddhamonthon District, Nakhonpathom Province by personal factors; and 3) to study the problems, obstacles and guidelines about the efficacy of Sangha Administration in Buddhamonthon District, Nakhonpathom Province. The survey research was carried out in this study. A group of sample used in this study were 130 Abbots and Monks, novices in Buddhamonthon District, Nakhonpathom Province from all 6 temple. The tool for data collection in this research was questionnaire comprising check-list, rating scale and opened end questions with reliability value equal to 0.920. The program for social science research was employed for data analysis. The statistics used for it are frequencies, percentage, average means and standard deviation. The analysis was also done through t-test for analysis the hypotheses in order to test the average difference between the two groups and f-test by one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) for testing the difference between the averages from three or more groups. And test the difference of the average LSD (Least Significant Difference).

                    The findings of this research are as follows :-

               1. The overall efficiency of Sangha administration in Buddhamonthon District, Nakhonpathom Province, was found at the medium level (m = 3.07). When having considered into each aspect, it was also noticed at the high levels in the renovation.      The other side it was also noticed at the medium levels.

               2. To compare the opinions of abbots and monks, novice towards the efficacy of Sangha Administration in Buddhamonthon District, Nakhonpathom Province, it was noted that status, age, years of ordination, levels of general education, levels of Dhamma studies and levels of Pali studies, in performance were found no significant differences. thus, rejecting the hypotheses.

               3. Regarding the problems and suggestions, Problems and obstacles:         The Sangha had no budget for development in many areas, especially on education matters, lack of chanting and regular basis monastic daily routine, the work is not clear and decisive, communication is not clear, trudge to work often with no development of new things. Conflicts between home and temple, failure to respect each other’s, little need to treat adults, problem of drug and other causes of ruins which are major problems of Sangha to be solved urgently.

               Suggestions: To allocate the limited budget to be most useful by focusing primarily on the development of Sangha such as Dhamma education, Pali education, reparation and promotion of things beneficial for Sangha. The monthly Buddhist disciplinary

code (Pàñimokkha) had to be observed not only in Buddhist Lent period but also throughout the year by every temple. To resolve the conflict between Sangha and home, training to provide knowledge to respect each other, to developed innovations for the benefits of groups, and find a way to prevent drug abuses, and help monitoring thoroughly.
